Kurt: Thought Patterns by Justin McLachlan

Kurt is a news anchor with a gift of the ability to read minds. Having learned to completely ignore his gift, his life gets flipped upside down. He ends up hearing something that he just couldn't ignore. Kurt: Thought Patterns is an exciting short story that keeps the pages turning.

The main character of this story comes alive fast and is the kind of hero you'd expect in an action movie. Despite the challenges faced, he risks his career and life attempting to use his gift for good.

The story's ending is particularly unusual. It's definitely not a Hollywood ending but it is great for the story while leaving many questions in the readers mind.

The Residue By Josh Hilden - Maine Book Co Ebook Review

The Residue By Josh Hilden

I tend to avoid making reviews about subpar work but I felt reviewing this story was necessary because of how close it could have been to readable. The Residue by Josh Hilden was definitely not a must read but it did keep me reading until the end.

The first notable problem with the story is the grammatical errors. While it's mostly sound, it includes many run-on sentences that distract a little from the intensity of the story and I don't even consider myself a grammar Nazi.

The second major problem is the downright messiness of the storytelling which leaves the story downright hilarious. It has the basic grotesque feel going for it but the excessive nature of it makes it feel like a silly old horror movie. That may actually be a plus for some people.

The ending of this story turns it into a very interesting read.

While I wouldn't personally recommend this story, it does show some interesting potential in a number of departments.

Rout 491 By Robert Forrester Review

Route 491 by Robert Forrester starts out fast. In no time at all you'll be flipping through the pages anxiously. It's a thriller almost every page of the short story.

Juliet is a main character that took a few minutes to fall for but was soon as real as any character you could imagine. She gets the horror of a lifetime when her trip from Miami to Vegas to marry her boyfriend turns into the escape of a lifetime.

The author does a great job of pulling the reader into the situation fast and you'll definitely be inclined to finish this ebook.

It isn't the most polished ebook in the world but its rough edges aren't all that distracting. It does an amazing job of building an intense enough situation that gives you no choice but to fall for the characters fast.

Route 491 is a great short story if you're looking for a short and intense thriller.

MBC Reviews - Sledge By Ernie Lindsey

Sledge is a tale that's woven tight. While only a short story, it creates a environment that the reader can nearly even breathe. Mary is a private investigator with a history that she wishes that she could forget. Sledge is the man that did it to her with, who would have guessed... a sledgehammer.

The story starts off with an eerie anticipation as all the pieces of the story are put on the table. The reader can sense that something bad is going to happen but it does a great job of keeping the specifics under wraps. When it starts to happen, it happens fast.

The intensity of the story increases at a lighting pace and drags the reader in by the ankles. At this point in the story you might as well be in a comfortable seat because you're going to be reading until the end of it. You can feel the fear of the main character as she sees how fast the usual night can turn into... Well, you'll just have to read to find out.

The story is very well written. The characters might as well be real people. Everything resolves nicely but you'll be wanting more. This is definitely an author worth looking into further.
