With 50 novels under his belt, it's
probably fair to assume that Stephen King knows what he's doing.
Whether you love him or hate him, Stephen King has produced the one
of the most powerful horror and fantasy followings of any writer in
history. His record for best selling novels and literary awards is
almost unmatched.
June 4, 2013, Stephen King will be
releasing his newest novel, Joyland. This new novel takes place in a
small town in North Carolina during the seventies. Devin Jones, a
young carnival employee, turns out to bite off a little bit more than
he can chew as he attempts to solve a four year old murder case. A
summer job for him turns into a whole lot more.
The reviews are stacking up for this
novel and it looks like it's going to be another Stephen King
mega-hit. The reviews consistently noted the classic things that
Stephen King was known for like believable characters and an exciting
and immersive plot. One reviewer actually said that the ending made
him cry. That's particularly powerful coming from a professional
reviewer.
One of the most unique factors involved
in the release of this book is Stephen King's decision to not publish
it in ebook format (right away at least.) He wanted to make sure that
his readers enjoyed the book in the same way that he loved to read as
a kid. This is a very bold move that has certainly stirred up a
little bit of controversy. I personally find it a bit silly telling
his readers how to enjoy his books but We will see how that works out
for him.
A week after it's paperback release
it's going to be for sale in a limited edition hardcover that's sure
to sell off the shelves fast. Even considering it's release will be a
week after the paperback.
As with any new Stephen King novel, I'm
excited to get my hands on it. While a few of his recent novels
haven't quite blown my mind, he's consistently produced some of the
best mainstream fiction for decades now. It's hard not to be
enthusiastic about getting started.
Are you excited to read this one?

Joyland will be in stores June 4, 2013.
